Resigned Minister Khalifeh: The Arab and Islamic summits represent a historical chance
Source: NowLebanon, 13-03-2008
Resigned Minister Mohammed Jawad Khalifeh said that the Islamic Summit in Dakar is a chance for Lebanon to find a solution.
"The crisis in Lebanon is about the government, not the presidency, as it is impossible to elect a president without the formation of a national-unity government," Khalifeh told the Voice of Lebanon radio station today.
He also said that Speaker Nabih Berri is still holding to the Arab initiative and is betting on the Islamic Summit.
"Berri is supporting PM Fouad Siniora's invitation to the summit, as it will help reduce tension," Khalifeh said.
"The presidential-election session will be held according to the ‘Arab basket' as stipulated by the Arab initiative," he added.
