Syria Ready for Warmer Relations when Lebanon is
Source: Agencies, 14-03-2008
Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal said on Thursday that Damascus did not intend to return to Lebanon through its military or security forces. He said Syria wanted to build diplomatic relations with Lebanon and resolve tensions between the two countries "when the Lebanese government has the desire."
In an interview with Arab Week magazine, Bilal said that Syria addressed a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon requesting the delineation of the Syrian-Lebanese borders from north to south.
The Syrian minister also confirmed his country's commitment to the Arab initiative which calls for the election of the head of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Michel Suleiman, as president, the formation of a national unity government, and the drafting of a new electoral law.
