Netanyahu Announces Deal on Extracting Oil from the Mediterranean

Nine years to the day, Lebanon's resistance declared a victory over the "Israeli" entity, which bombarded and attacked different Lebanese areas throughout 33 days, Lebanese newspapers anticipate what the Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah would speak of in his speech to be delivered Friday afternoon from the Hujeir Valley, where the numerous so-called invincible Merkava tanks of the "Israeli" army were destroyed.

The speech comes a few weeks after the Iranian nuclear deal was made between Iran and the West, and amidst the different events taking place in the region. Lebanese dailies also touched on different regional and domestic issues including the cabinet crisis in Lebanon.

Nasrallah Speech Unique, Three-Dimensional --- AS-SAFIR

Commenting on the speech to be delivered by Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah today Friday, As-Safir newspaper said that what makes Sayyed Nasrallah's speech unique is that it is three dimensional:

First of all, the speech itself is unique, and choosing Hujeir to deliver the speech also gives it more significance as it was the area that became a "graveyard" for more than 50 Merkava tanks, the pride of "Israeli" industry.

According to the paper, Sayyed Nasrallah will reaffirm the readiness of the resistance in repelling any attack or replying to any war or new adventure the adventures would think of carrying out.

As for the second dimension, As-Safir newspaper said the place and timing of the event is also to reassure the relation between confronting "Israeli" and takfiri terrorism, by saying "just like we triumphed in the 2006 July war we will eventually triumph in our open war on takfiri terrorism."

The third dimension, according to the paper is a local or domestic dimension, reaffirming the loyalty of the resistance to all its partners in the historic victory topped, at the forefront of which stands the Lebanese army and the resistance's allies, most outstanding of which is General Michel Aoun.

Moreover, the paper noted that what makes the speech even more important is the timing, as it coincides with Sayyed Nasrallah's meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who discussed the nuclear deal and its different aspects and revealed details on the matter.

Saudi Arabia Sending Messages to Topple Government --- AL-BINAA

Well-informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper that "the minister of the Change and Reform bloc and Hizbullah will not resign and will not sit aside but will remain in the government."

The sources noted that "Saud Arabia has started to send messages questioning the possibility of toppling the government, in an attempt to prevent any extension of officers' terms that would benefit the head of the Free Patrotic Movement General Michel Aoun.

Also, the source assured that Prime Minister Tammam Salam will wait for the result of communication carried out between different sides before he calls for a ministerial session.

Raising Retirement Age a Joke --- AS-SAFIR

Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt reportedly rejected raising the retirement age of senior security officers that was recently proposed by General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim, said As-Safir newspaper on Friday.

He told the daily "Such a suggestion would incur major strains on the treasury," further explaining "The initiative is a joke because we would then be faced with a large number of majors in the security ranks," he explained.

"We therefore have no choice but to resort to extending their terms," he stated.

Ibrahim had proposed raising the retirement age of senior army officers for three years, with the initiative aimed at ending a growing political crisis. The head of General Security stressed that his initiative is well-studied, denying that it would put financial pressure on the treasury by keeping top officers in their posts.

Earlier this week, Defense Minister Samir Moqbel signed decrees to extend the terms of Army Commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji, Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Walid Salman and Maj. Gen. Mohammad Kheir, the secretary-general of the Higher Defense Council, by one year each.

The step was taken despite vehement opposition from Aoun, who favored the appointment of new officers for the posts.

Meanwhile, the FPM leader warned Qahwaji against putting the military in confrontation with protesters, blaming him for "politicizing the Army to serve politicians."
