"Israeli" officials planned to attack military targets in Iran in recent years, but they were held back due to a political or military hindrance, according to an audio recording leaked to the Zionist Channel 2 television broadcaster.

Leaked Audio: ’Israel’ Drew up Plans to Attack Iran, Called it Off

The recording with former War Minister Ehud Barak was leaked to the Zionist entity's Channel 2. It detailed three strikes Barak had allegedly planned with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.

According to CNN, Barak had reportedly confirmed the audio's authenticity to other news outlets.

Furthermore, the recordings with Barak confirmed that the Zionist strikes planned in the period extending from 2010 to 2012 were essentially called off before even getting into an operational stage due to different reasons each year.

In 2010, an "Israeli" military assessment put an end to the plans as the then military chief of staff Gabi Ashkinazi said that "Israel" lacked the "operational capability" to carry out these strikes.

Then one year later in 2011, two key ministers waffled at the last minute when they realized the "risks and losses" that could result from attacking Iran.

Reportedly, the idea to attack surfaced again in 2012. However, the timing this time did not work out because of a joint United States-"Israel" military exercise and visit by the American war secretary.

Moreover, the US-"Israel" drills made a strike against Iran and its nuclear facility too complicated for the Zionist entity to carry out.

Though, Washington had yet to comment on the report of the leaked audio.

American and "Israeli" analysts say that a military strike is less likely to happen now that the Iran nuclear deal is done.
