Resigned Minister Salloukh: The Syrian invitation is not offensive
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 17-03-2008
Resigned Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh said that the way Syria sent Lebanon's invitation to the Arab Summit was not offensive or provocative.
A Syrian delegation headed by the deputy foreign minister had handed the invitation to Salloukh while Prime Minister Fouad Saniora was in Senegal representing Lebanon at the Dakar Islamic Summit.
"It is in the country's interests that Lebanon be present at the summit," Salloukh told NTV.
He also noted that the invitation was addressed to Lebanon.
"Once a similar invitation is sent to the US, then it is up to Washington to decide whether or not to participate," he added.
