MP Fadlallah: Hizbullah Vigilant and Ready, Much Stronger than it was in July War
Source: Al Manar TV, 15-03-2008
Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah insisted on an internal settlement to the Lebanese political stalemate, based on national partnership, civil peace and consensus.
"This country our country and we want to preserve it and to secure the national unity, even though there is a team linking their fate and the fate of the country on changes promised by the American administration," Fadlallah said. He added that these promises included war throughout the Arab region and an "international tribunal to settle political scores with opposition forces and Syria."
In a meeting organized by Hizbullah in the border town of Markaba, Fadlallah said the bloc's "fate" was to "bear the responsibility to protect our people and our country from the 'Israeli' enemy that lurks in this country at a time when another group bets on wars in the region to control Lebanon."
He pointed out that the resistance would pay no heed to the "noise" from "those who do not care about the fate of the country," adding that the resistance was vigilant, ready and much stronger than it was in the July War. "We must be ready to face all possibilities."
"The Arab initiative is the only available option to address the crisis. It is still a valid basis for a solution, which includes the election of a President of the Republic, the formation of a national-unity government based on partnership, and the agreement on the electoral law," Fadlallah said. He accused the US of disrupting the initiative through its allies in Lebanon.
