Iran: 44 Terror Suspects Arrested

Iran's Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi has announced the arrest of dozens of those charged with terrorist activities as well as the foiling of several terrorist plots in operations nationwide.
The minister explained that 10 terrorists have been captured in the provinces of Tehran, Mazandaran, Golestan and Sistan-and-Baluchestan.
He added that 20 others were captured while trying to cross the Iranian border into Iraq and Syria.
The minister also confirmed the arrest of 14 people in connection with last month's terror attack in the town of Safiabad. Eight of the detainees were directly involved in the attack which targeted an Ashura mourning ceremony near the city of Dezful, killing two people.
Alavi also noted that heavy losses were inflicted on a terrorist group responsible for several attacks on police and governor headquarters in the city of Soosangerd. He said the terrorists are supported by certain countries in the region.
