Brussels police arrested a man in connection with the November 13 terrorist attacks that hit Paris killing 130 people. The capture brought the total number of arrests in Belgium to nine.
A spokesman for federal prosecutors said on Thursday that the man was arrested earlier this week but prosecutors kept it quiet not to alert potential accomplices. However, he mentioned that more details will be released later in the day.
For its part, Belgian newspaper reported that the man arrested was contacted by Hasna Ait Boulahcen, who gave shelter to the presumed ringleader of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
Boulahcen and Abaaoud were both killed in a police raid five days after the attacks.
Earlier on Monday, Belgian police detained five people in several searches in Brussels, but all were released later the same day.
