Al-Assad Receives Iranian Interior Minister, Appreciates Support in Facing Terrorism

Syrian President Bashar Assad met on Tuesday Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed strategic relations between Iran and Syria, as well as mutual cooperation in all fields, mainly in the field of fighting terrorism.

Al-Assad voiced Syrian people's appreciation for Iran's stance of supporting Syria in facing terrorism, asserting that "the friendly countries, ahead of them, Iran and Russia, have an important role in supporting Syrians' steadfastness during five years to achieve victories in their crucial war against Takfiri terrorism which may determine to a large extent features of a new world map."

For his part, Fazli reiterated that "the stance of the Iranian leadership and people, in standing by Syria, is firm and steady" and it stems from the absolute belief that the Syrian people face a fierce world war as its tools are the obscurantist terrorism, extremist Takfiri thoughts and its dangers exceed the boarders of Syria and the region.

Fazli arrived to Damascus on Monday at the invitation of his Syrian counterpart Major General Mohammad al-Shaar.

On the first day of his visit, Fazli met the Syrian PM Wael al-Halaqi, in which he asserted that: "even European countries have realized and admit to the real strength of the Syrian people and government although they would follow the US in general policies."
