Russia ’10 Times More Efficient’ in Anti-’ISIS’ Fight than US

Russia's aerial campaign against terrorists in Syria is ten times more successful than that of the United States, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem told Sputnik.

Since September 30, Russia has been conducting airstrikes against terrorist groups in Syria following a request from President Bashar Assad.

"Russia succeeds to achieve ten times more than the United States. And we hope if this Syrian-Russian cooperation continues to combat terrorism, it is not only better for us, it is also self-defense for Russia," Muallem stated.

On Thursday, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force carried out a joint combat mission for the first time.

"We are grateful to Russia because of their military interference from the air. Because the coordination exists between the Russian Air Forces and Syrian Air Forces and ground troops we succeeded to achieve victory in many places in Syria," the foreign minister added.

On Monday, the Russian General Staff said that over 150 towns and villages in Syria had been freed over the last 1.5 months due to the support provided to Syrian troops by Russian aviation.
