Yakan: does Saudi FM reflect SA policies?
Source: NowLebanon, 02-04-2008
President of the Islamic Labor Front Sheikh Fathi Yakan said he intended to question Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Lebanon Abed Al-Aziz Khoja about the extent to which the latest stands expressed by the kingdom's FM Saud Al-Faisal against the Lebanese opposition and dossier represented his country's views.
Yakan asked whether the Saudi FM's statements reflected the policies adopted by King Abdullah or whether the words he heard were "a sort of diplomatic endeavor."
"We look to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a great Islamic reference in its geographical location and position in the Islamic world, and therefore we are surprised that they should surface as a pro-(US backed) government team and antagonize the opposition," Yakan said.
"When Saudi Arabia is an involved party, it cannot contribute to solving the Lebanese crisis. But if it is a reference, it can deal will all parties in the Lebanese arena equally," he added.
