The Popular Bloc in Zahle said that the ongoing provisional arrest of four generals suspected of involvement in the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri without a trial is a violation of Lebanese laws and the Penal Code.
"This makes those who arrested them subject to public opinion and judicial accountability," the bloc said through a statement.
"The Lebanese state and the judges who committed this violation also bear responsibility," the statement added.
The statement also added that no one can predict the objectives of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon or interpret the relevant international resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution 1559, which states that the investigating judge has the exclusive right to issue release orders.
