Sahili: Government destroying Lebanon
Source: Alalam TV, 14-04-2008
Resigned Minister of Agriculture Talal Al-Sahili said the Lebanese political crisis remained intractable due to the intransigence of the pro-government forces, which Sahili said "monopolized power" and accused of ties to foreign projects which exceeded " Lebanon's energy and endurance."
Sahili also said the ruling authority embodied "selfishness and individualism" and had forced the country into economic and social crises.
"Based on the principle of partnership, the recent initiative of Speaker (Nabih) Berri to renew dialogue had barely seen the light of day when pro-government parties attacked and refused the dialogue," he said.
"Here is our right to ask: If they do not want dialogue, what is their alternative? And where are they pushing the people, who are suffering from the situation and pain and misery?" Sahili asked.
The resigned minister accused the government of drowning state institutions and emptying the presidency as a result of their desire to maintain exclusivity. "Some of them made partners in the homeland illusionary enemies, and forgot the Zionist enemy on the other hand."
