Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that the US is not trying to find a solution in Lebanon that ensures partnership among political parties.
"When the US has to choose between partnership between the majority and the opposition on the one hand, or the continuation of the Saniora government on the other, it chooses the latter, even if it takes time and overpasses the legislative elections," Qassem said, adding that the majority is not independent in its decision making.
"Those who consider the problem a Lebanese-Syrian one are wrong. The problem is between Lebanon and the US. The Americans are pursuing 'Israeli' interests in the region and are against our participation in power, as it will obstruct their plan to settle Palestinians in Lebanon," Qassem said.
He added that the majority agreed on the candidacy of Army Commander General Michel Suleiman because it believes it can form the next government and adopt the electoral law that suits it best after the presidential elections.
"We want the next president to be part of a complete solution that includes the national-unity government and the electoral law," Qassem said.
