AS-SAFIR: "Israeli" Dangers Threaten Lebanon's Borders, Riches
As-Safir's author Nabil Haysam in the article he wrote today, Wednesday, shed light on the "Israeli" dangers once again looming in the horizon and threatening Lebanon's maritime borders and riches.
"Lebanon's oil riches are in danger", wrote the author adding that "following the internet scandal and the uncovering of "Israeli" hands that reached [Lebanon's] official, financial and security institutions, and following the previous "Israeli" espionage devices that were uncovered in the depth of the Lebanese territories, not to mention the daily attempts to mess up with the lives of the Lebanese people, threads to a new scandal unraveled exposing one of the most dangerous "Israeli" threats: a major fraud operation in cooperation between "Israel" and the United Nations to manipulate Lebanon's maritime borders and steal its oil riches."
According to Haysam, "Israel's" involvement in such a scandal is not surprising, but what is in fact shocking is the UN plot rotating around the idea that "Lebanon has no borders acknowledged on the international level."
The author went on to say that "some Lebanese officials have obtained worrying information, the latest of which was the insistence of "Israel" to discuss Lebanon's land borders, adding that it was revealed that an "Israeli" officer surprised international bodies by discussing the issue of borders with Lebanon, saying "there are no land borders between Lebanon and "Israel". "
Furthermore, sources according to the article said that "there are two major goals behind the "Israeli" position on doubting there are land borders to Lebanon: first is that by dropping the borders "Israel" can manipulate the matter and rethink carrying out violations [18 violations] that were rejected by Lebanon in 2000, and second is to exploit Lebanon's maritime riches through manipulating the borders story."
AL-AKHBAR: Corruption at High in Security Forces Apparatus, Hundreds of Suspects Involved
Well-informed sources told al-Akhbar newspaper that corruption in the general security apparatus in Lebanon has reached an advanced stage, and that includes theft of gasoline, aid portions, and social aids, manipulation of military ranks and theft of rewards from the finance ministry. The source told the newspaper that "there are hundreds of suspects involved in the scandal and the sums of money embezzled are estimated to have reached tens of billions of dollars."
Also, sources said that around 70 officers in the general security forces have been involved in blackmailing soldiers in the country's military institution. According to the source, these officers were offering social aid to the soldiers under the condition that they get two-thirds of it, not to mention that they were manipulating military ranks.
AL-LIWAA: Hariri in Moscow as Part of Parliamentarian Blocs to Discuss Presidency
Head of the Future Party Saad Hariri was in Moscow on Wednesday, diplomatic sources told al-Liwaa newspaper, adding that his visit aimed at holding talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov concerning Lebanon's presidential impasse.
According to the source, the preparations for the visit which remained unannounced began around two weeks ago, in the context of Russian-US cooperation to find a roadmap and bring the presidential void in Lebanon to an end.
According to the paper, Lavrov and the US Secretary of State John Kerry have agreed to make diplomatic contacts with Riyadh, Tehran, the Vatican and Paris to put an end to the ongoing delay in the presidential elections in Lebanon and find a solution to the reasons hampering the process.
Hariri's visit, according to the paper, comes as part of the Russian-US agreement to contact heads of prominent parliamentarian blocs in the country.
Lebanon has been without president since May 2014 when the term of President Michel Suleiman ended.
