Aoun: Welch has turned the majority into his party

MP Michel Aoun, head of the Change and Reform bloc, said that US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs David Welch's visit to members of the majority means that it is "Welch's party."
"Welch's visit to the majority, which is collapsing, is aimed at providing them with moral support. I haven't seen so far such an obvious US intervention aimed at controlling Lebanon," Aoun told Sawt Al-Ghadd radio station.
"The US is pressuring Lebanon and is a danger to Lebanese identity and the Christian presence in this country," he added.
Aoun said that Welch's call for the immediate election of president is an attempt to eliminate the Arab initiative and Lebanese consensus.
"The next president cannot be elected but through a minimum of understanding," Aoun said.
He also added that the majority is pursuing dialogue just to waste time. "When I called for serious dialogue, they rejected it."
Commenting on the matter of the alleged mass graves in Halat, Aoun called on the Lebanese Forces to join the FPM in calling for unearthing all mass graves.
"If they have a clear conscience, they should join us in our movement. Maybe people will acquit them," Aoun added.
