MP Abbas Hachem: The Change and Reform bloc is stronger than ever
Source: NowLebanon.com, 20-04-2008
MP Abbas Hachem said that the withdrawal of MP Michel Murr from the Change and Reform bloc was aimed at bringing the majority and the opposition together.
"Yet the majority has been acting according to its own interest," Hachem told the NTV television.
"I think that the Change and Reform bloc is now stronger than ever for everyone believes that common work is better that individual one. Within the bloc we are experiencing independence and true dialogue," he said.
Hachem noted that Murr has always been independent and that he is seeking to take sides with the upcoming government.
"But did he really "steal" the popularity of the FPM? Did his stance affect the popularity of Aoun?" he wondered.
Commenting on the talks over new MPs joining the Change and Reform bloc, Hachem said the matter was serious but he does not know the names of these MPs.
"Only Aoun knows their name and will reveal them in the right time."
Hachem said that the visit of Welch is aimed at supporting the majority. "The latter has dropped its call for the drawing of the border and the diplomatic relations with Syria after the visit of Berri to Damascus, for it is aware that these demands could be achieved," he added.
