Wiam Wahhab: Aoun is the only negotiator

Former Minister Wiam Wahhab slammed the interference of US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs David Welch in Lebanon's internal affairs.
"Welch has tried to encourage some factions within March 14 over the simple majority elections. The opposition considers the simple majority election as a coup against the constitution and will retaliate by another coup," Wahhab said.
He also noted a division in ‘March14' (US-backed ruling bloc) forces over this matter. "Some are willing to take this step, while others who are more rational are reluctant for they do not trust the US anymore," he added.
"My advice to all is not to bet on the US over the matter of the presidential elections or the electoral law."
According to Wahhab Aoun is still the negotiator on behalf of the oppositions. "Without an agreement with Aoun, the presidential elections will not take place," Wahhab declared.
