Hizbullah international relations officer Nawaf Moussawi said that the "most dangerous thing in American policies was their engagement in the blatant disruption of attempts at dialogue and consensus among Lebanese political forces," which Moussawi said would guarantee participation in government.
He also said the US was engaged in "deepening political and sectarian divides within each confession in order to ignite mobile civil wars."
After meeting with Brazilian Ambassador to Lebanon Eduardo Seixas, Moussawi said that a war was being waged to cancel the Free Patriotic Movement, headed by opposition MP General Michel Aoun. Moussawi said that this war ultimately aimed at the abolition of the majority of Christians, who believe in national unity and free will, he added.
Moussawi underlined that the freedom of Lebanon could only come through its "self-defense capabilities, including those of the resistance" and that independence could only be attained through consensus and unity among the Lebanese.
"The military action did not succeed in breaking General Aoun's movement, nor in breaking the will of the resistance, and today's methods of sedition, division, incitement, and financial and political rule succeed."
Moussawi questioned whether there was a need for proof that the American policy only led to "devastation, destruction, civil war, strife, massacres and displacement."
"Is what is happening in Iraq not sufficient evidence? Is the Palestinian tragedy not enough proof?"
