Murr: Chiite approval necessary for presidential election
Source: NowLebanon, 22-04-2008
MP Michel Murr said that parliament was not paralyzed, nor had Speaker Nabih Berri did not closed its doors. "What happens is they call for a session, and we attend but the number of attendees is incomplete, so Speaker Berri is forced to postpone."
"I do not belong to the team that wants to blame Speaker Berri for the closure of parliament," he added.
Murr reiterated his rejection of the presidential vacuum, noting that the election of a President of the Republic and the formation of a government without the consent of the Lebanese Chiites was unacceptable.
