In a new wave of terrorist attacks against civilians in Syria, at least 10 people were martyred and over 40 others wounded in twin blasts that rocked the eastern part of the Syrian Province of Homs.

Syrian state TV reported on Thursday that the bombings occurred in a square in Mukharram al-Fawqani in central Homs Province.

The area, controlled by the Syrian Army, is located between the cities of Homs and Palmyra, which was recaptured by the army from terrorists last month.

The bombings in Homs came as a 48-hour ceasefire took hold on Thursday elsewhere, in the city of Aleppo, where residents were said to be returning to the streets as fighting subsided.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group, confirmed that there had been no bombings in the city, but said a civilian had died in a western district from shelling by militants minutes after the ceasefire took effect.

The Syrian army had said late on Wednesday that it agreed to calls from Russia and the United States for a two-day truce in Aleppo that would begin on Thursday.
