Berri is ready to meet the majority "midway"
Source: NowLebanon, 28-04-2008
A source close to Speaker Nabih Berri told As-Safir daily that the latter is still waiting for the majority to provide a unified stance on his call for dialogue.
"Berri is waiting for a firm and clear stance from the majority in light of which he will decide on his next step," the source told the daily.
He also noted that Berri's initiative was positively welcomed by MP Walid Jumblatt, which moved him to schedule the next presidential-election session for May 13 instead of the 26th.
The source expressed his hope that a declaration of intentions will be hammered out over power sharing and electoral constituencies.
"Berri is still insisting on his initiative. If they are ready to meet him midway, he is willing to go further. Dialogue is a positive thing, and the solution cannot be but a Lebanese one."
