Hussein Khalil, political aide to Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said the quadripartite alliance was like "Satan's promise of paradise." Khalil said political understanding between the two main factions in Lebanon was initially present, but the ruling team quickly reversed the understanding. "Let us think about dialogue, or the mutual understanding of the 14 persons involved, as Speaker (Nabih) Berri said," Khalil added.
In an interview with the Al-Manar satellite channel, Khalil said the reason behind the ruling team's "intransigence" and its failure to accept dialogue was "external dictates."
"Why this fear of the dialogue table? Is there a fear of sitting with some Lebanese?"
"If MP Saad Hariri wanted to negotiate on behalf of the pro-government alliance, the negotiator was General Michel Aoun. But at the dialogue table there are 14 persons present," Khalil said.
