Resigned Labor Minister Trad Hamadeh said the social and economic policies of the government accounted for the difficult conditions of workers and the struggle of trade unions in Lebanon.
In a speech addressing workers in Lebanon on Labor Day, Hamadeh said that trade unions in Lebanon were continuously subjected to political pressure, which only revealed the government's lack of independence and its inability to exercise its right to represent workers Lebanese and defending their rights.
"The Ministry of Labor extends its warmest congratulations to Lebanese workers and Arab and foreign workers residing in Lebanon on Labor Day," Hamadeh said Thursday. The former Labor minister called on all labor and trade unions to work together in defense of workers' rights.
