Qabalan urged politicians to act wisely and avoid inflammatory speeches
Source: Daily Star, 05-05-2008
On Sunday, the vice president of the Higher Shiite Muslim Council, Sheikh Abdel-Amir Qabalan, urged politicians to act wisely "and avoid inflammatory speeches in this tense period."
Qabalan also stressed the importance of resuming internal negotiations because the only way to salvation for "is based on cooperation, understanding and dialogue."
He said that the Lebanese crisis was getting very complicated and that "moderate speeches would lead to a constructive dialogue and erase suspicions between different parties."
"We will protect our country by cooperating and communicating until we start trusting each other again," Qabalan said, warning that Lebanese people must protect their country "from the conspiracies threatening it."
The cleric added that solving the continuing political deadlock would help the country overcome disastrous economic and living conditions.
"No effort must be spared in restoring the failed communication between Lebanese citizens," Qabalan declared, "and any attempt to bring the people together would be appreciated."
