Amal MP calls on government to stop playing on sectarianism
Source: NowLebanon, 04-05-2008
MP Abed Al-Majid Saleh of the Amal Movement political bureau asked Prime Minister Fouad Siniora to uncover the reason behind his discontent with Speaker Nabih Berri's call for the reactivation of parliamentary committees.
Saleh said Siniora had issued a memorandum warning employees from attending committee meetings under the threat of liability and inspection.
MP Saleh also accused the government of being unable to separate between the political and the social, saying the ruling team wanted to "starve" the people and "bring them to their knees."
"When will the frozen conscience of this government and its leader move?" he asked.
Saleh called on the government to stop "playing on sectarian strings" and "killing time," and instead work for a solution to the Lebanese crisis.
