MP Ali Khreis of the Development and Liberation bloc warned that some (so-called) 'majority' factions are questioning the role of the army "in order to weaken and divide it as the first step toward destroying Lebanon."
He added that the Arab Ministerial Committee must not take sides with any faction in Lebanon and conduct its mission according to the Arab initiative.
Khreis also called on the government to revoke its decision to sack the head of the airport security for his alleged ties with Hizbullah and to declare the party's private network of landlines illegal - a move that sparked the current crisis.
"The security situation in the South is stable, and UNIFIL is fulfilling its task," Khreis said. "However, the 'Israeli' enemy is still violating Lebanon's sovereignty."
