Source: Nowlebanon.com, 20-05-2008
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji al-Otari stressed that the current crisis in Lebanon is an "internal matter." In a speech delivered at the ninth session of the joint supreme Syrian-Tunisian committee, he noted that the solution to the crisis depends on "dialogue and consensus among all Lebanese."
Otari stressed Damascus's support of the efforts of the Arab ministerial committee, aimed at reaching an agreement among Lebanese parties. He noted that tackling the current challenges on the regional level is imperative in terms of strengthening Arab solidarity, as well as the protection of the interests of the Arab world. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the quest to build a strong Arab economic bloc that would contribute to the support of development programs, providing employment opportunities and helping to achieve self-sufficiency in the region.
