MP Salim Aoun commented in an interview to New TV on the current situation. His words were as follows:
Our goal is not obstruction but partnership, however, according to them, we only want obstruction. Yes, we want to obstruct their monopoly over power.
We don't consider the majority to have lost popularity. Both the majority and the opposition won popularity because of what happened. On the political level, I think that we won. The majority did not lose, but they came back to reality.
All their proposals for Beirut were for their benefit and without competition. But what we proposed was to increase the number of seats while giving them nine seats because they have a popularity there that we cannot deny.
The Christians of the majority wanted to pressure General Aoun and show him to be the one obstructing the solution so that they could wash their hands of the problem.
The majority broke the constitution more than seven times, and we would have been left alone as Christians in Doha if it wasn't for our allies, Amal and Hizbullah who forced concessions to be made for the benefit of the Christians.
We have agreed that the Interior Ministry should be included in the president's governmental share and that the ministry should be handled by a neutral person over whom there is a consensus, so that he can be the guarantee of all.
