Qatari emir Hamad bin Khalifah Al-Thani said the following in the Lebanese parliament building today at the oath session to swear in president elect Michel Suleiman:
-The current phase is the most important and dangerous phase in Lebanese history, and I hope that the crisis Lebanese recently witnessed will be its last.
-The victor is Lebanon, and the vanquished is sedition.
-We know that what we have reached, and what you have reached in Doha a few days ago refutes the concept that sedition is present, although dormant.
-I hope that what we reached in Doha does not abide by the "no victor, no vanquished" rule, for this system seems to bury the crisis rather than solve it.
-It was an honor for Doha that the recent Lebanese agreement happened in a dialogue which we were able to give all our aid to.
-The indicator of Lebanon's success is your presence in this room.
-I am proud of having been giving the chance and the honor to see Lebanon it both situations, two years ago and today.
-Doha is open to Lebanon unconditionally and with no demands. The Arab world has enough qualified organizations ... including the Arab League ... to create an atmosphere for dialogue at any crisis. What joins us is larger than what separates us.
