Syrian Defense Minister says Lebanese agreement torpedoed "American-‘Israeli project"

Syrian Defense Minister Hassan Turkmani welcomed the inter-Lebanese agreement, stressing that stability in Lebanon would have positive repercussions on regional stability.
"The Lebanese consensus in Doha confirmed the validity of what Syria has said since the beginning of the Lebanese crisis, that it cannot be resolved except by the Lebanese themselves," Turkmani said during an army graduation ceremony.
Turkmani said Qatar had helped the Lebanese overcome the impasse themselves, "in coordination with Syrian leadership," and had torpedoed the "American-'Israeli' project."
The minister noted that the Lebanese progress coincided with two other important occasions: the sixtieth commemoration of "the usurpation of Palestine," and the eighth anniversary of the victory of the Lebanese resistance and the defeat of the 'Israeli' occupation of southern Lebanon.
