MP Raad defends May clashes as "response"
Source: nowlebanon.com, 06-06-2008
Loyalty to the Resistance bloc leader Mohammad Raad said the violent clashes in Beirut and the Mountain were no more than a response to those who lifted their "swords to the neck of the resistance."
MP Raad said the opposition had completely cooperated in the election of President Michel Suleiman, the formation of a national-unity government and the adoption of an electoral law. While the Doha agreement was not a victory for either the opposition or the pro-government alliance, it did provide a temporary settlement, he added.
Raad noted that the agreement did not form a comprehensive solution. The pro-government solution had rejected the electoral law initially proposed in Doha, he added. Raad also said the problem with the government formation was disagreement in the pro-government ranks.
