MP Michel Aoun, head of the Change and Reform Bloc, accused the pro-government party of obstructing the Doha Agreement "by creating security incidents."
Aoun told the Qatari daily Al-Arab that the majority was betting that he would reject all solutions. "I was very frank and said that between the post [the presidency] and the political role, I will choose the later."
"The Doha Agreement is the entryway to a solution," Aoun declared.
He also noted that the problem in Lebanon is bigger that the issue of the electoral law or the establishment of the government.
"We have security and economic problems, and we are under the threat of several dangers, especially on the borders," Aoun said.
"This agreement will provide us with a period of stability to prepare for the legislative elections. The results of these elections will determine the upcoming phase of stability for these results will reflect true representation," he added.
Aoun said he was optimistic in spite of all the problems and obstacles. "Once stability is ensured, I don't think that any section of the Lebanese people wants to sabotage or bring back fears and problems. As soon as the Lebanese experience stability, they call immediately for dialogue," Aoun declared.
