MP Nicolas: Some still support the US project in Lebanon!
Source: nowlebanon.com, 17-06-2008
MP Nabil Nicolas of the Free Patriotic Movement stated in a n interview with ANB TV that, "The US project still exists in Lebanon, and some people are still supporting it."
Nicolas said, "We do not understand Rice's visit to Qoreitem, which was unacceptable, in addition to her statement on Hizbullah at Ain al-Tineh. These statements do not serve Lebanese national unity."
He added, "Let us see if President Suleiman makes a suggestion. General Aoun has informed Suleiman that he does not have veto power over anyone, but the problem is the distribution of ministerial portfolios. We insist on handling a sovereign portfolio and on full participation."
Nicolas went on to say, "The problem is with Rice's visit to Beirut yesterday, especially its timing, which coincided with Aoun's visit to Baabda, and this is not reassuring. It is no longer acceptable for any figure or foreign minister representing any country to make a visit that would not be followed up by the Lebanese Foreign Ministry."
