In a statement to OTV, former Minister Wiam Wahhab said that President Michel Suleiman is too smart to participate in the game put forward by the ruling bloc, which propagates that the president is the representative of the Christians, as opposed to General Michel Aoun.
He added that President Suleiman has an interest in allowing Aoun to remain strong in the Christian arena, and that Aoun has an interest in allowing the president to be strong in his position as head of state.

He said that the Taif Agreement is dead and that there should be serious work to abolish it.
Wahhab added that Speaker Nabih Berri, Hizbullah, and the opposition in general will not betray Aoun on the issue of government formation, and that he has a right to a sovereign ministry or the right to make any proposal that he deems necessary. He added that the most suitable and the quickest way to solve the crisis over the cabinet formation is by reaching an understanding with Aoun.

Saudi Arabia, said Wahhab, is still serving a destructive role in the region, and it is carrying out the orders of the United States. He noted, however, that the kingdom has certain limits in Lebanon that it cannot exceed.

MP Walid Jumblatt serves as the new balance of power "for the purposes of maintaining calm," Wahhab argued, as it is believed that the US has abandoned its internal allies.

There are worries, Wahhab concluded, that Saudi Arabia has summoned Walid Jumblatt to Riyadh for assistance. Nonetheless, realities on the ground would prevent Jumblatt from responding to Saudi Arabia's "sabotage" of the political situation.
