Mohammad Raad stressed that the Resistance is a national necessity and that it is not negotiable under the presence of an ‘Israeli' threat on Lebanon. It is also beyond the boundaries of the current political debate.

He emphasized that there is no need for the resistance to participate in a government that doesn't adhere to the resistance.

In an answer to a question whether the issue of the resistance would be debated in the ministerial statement, Raad said, "There will be no debate over the issue of the resistance since that would lead to a definite polarization between those who are sided with the ‘Israeli' enemy and those who are to the side of the resistance and reluctance.

On the issue of the Shibaa farms and the Kfarshuba heights, Raad emphasized that, "what is important is that Lebanon regains its complete sovereignty over this land unswervingly and without sharing it. The regained land will not be considered regained under national sovereignty unless ‘Israel' and the international community consider this land "Lebanese", and [then] it is up to Lebanon to decide weather to place it under international mandate or not."

"When Prime Minister Fouad Saniora decides to be the head of a national-unity government, the government will be formed immediately," head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad said.

Raad said Saniora had defied customs in the distribution of state and sovereign ministries. "The majority of Christians are represented by General Michel Aoun, and he has the right to a sovereign portfolio," he stated.

He also said he believed the government was almost completed before US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's surprise visit to Lebanon on Monday. After her visit, however, Raad said he felt the pro-government alliance was "indifferent" about whether the formation dragged on.

The MP said the recent security incidents in the Bekaa were an indicator of the "will of some parties determined to disrupt national unity and reconciliation."
