Kanaan: Draft Electoral Law has been submitted
Source: nowlebanon.com, 24-06-2008
In an interview with NBN, MP Ibrahim Kanaan of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc commented on the current political issues saying, "We have submitted the draft electoral law to the parliament's General Secretariat. This draft law will not pass through any parliamentary committees, but will be submitted directly to the parliament assembly."
Kanaan added, "We have overcome the constitutional, legal and moral obstacles in front of the electoral law. We in the Administration and Justice Committee have agreed over the Doha Agreement in this regard and are considering the reforms suggested in the Boutros law. The majority must take positive action so that the electoral law can be adopted as soon as possible. There is no link today between the present government and adopting legislation."
