Sheikh Qassem: Saniora solely responsible for government delay
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 25-6-2008
Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem reiterated his belief in the Doha Agreement as "a crucial stage that opened the way for a new consensus."
Lebanon's post-Doha problems all occurred in "areas of a specific political trend," he added, which indicated that certain groups were unable to control their supporters or were hiding behind them.
Sheikh Qassem accused his opponents of condemning the events but taking no step to address them, and even "providing cover for the perpetrators and aggressors."
Qassem held Prime Minister Fouad Saniora responsible for the delay in the national unity government formation by refusing to swerve away from his own specific proposals.
Sheikh Qassem also questioned why the premier did not frankly "tell public opinion about the reasons for deactivation."
