Abi Nasr: By what standard does Geagea consider Saniora representative of Christians???!!!
Source: nowlebanon.com, 26-06-2006
MP Naamtallah Abi Nasr asked Samir Geagea, the Lebanese Forces leader, by what standard he deemed Prime Minister Fouad Saniora representative of the Christians?
"We... considered ourselves truly representative of an important segment of Christians, but we did not understand how Saniora represents Christians a million times more than General Michel Aoun," Abi Nasr said in reference to the Free Patriotic Movement leader.
Christians had been demanding a caza-based electoral law from 1992 until 2005, Abi Nasr noted.
Abi Nasr also emphasized that the adoption of a caza-based electoral law suited neither Hizbullah and Amal, the FPM's main allies, nor Future Movement leader Saad Hariri.
"Our concern is... reconciliation between Geagea and [former] Minister Sleiman Franjieh," the MP noted, calling for a meeting of all leaders in Bkirki. Yet he also urged the LF leader "not to bargain or exploit the circumstances."
"We are honest. We stood against and continue to stand against everything that violates the sovereignty of Lebanon or aims at changing its identity, either through [Palestinian] resettlement or naturalization," Abi Nasr concluded.
