UNSC Calls for Full Implementation of JCPOA

Nearly all members of the United Nations Security Council called for full implementation of the July 2015 nuclear deal, Iran's envoy and permanent representative to the UN Gholam Ali Khoshroo said.

US unilateral withdrawal from the Iran Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA], and its measure to impose trans-border sanctions on Tehran is against the Resolution 2231 and the UN Charter as well, Khoshroo told reporters in New York.
About the UN Security Council's meeting held on Wednesday, Khoshroo said it was the Council's first official gathering on the Resolution 2231 after the US exit from the Iran nuclear deal on May 8.
Khoshroo added that the US administration is responsible for the consequences of its unlawful action.
He then stressed that the Council's meeting displayed the US political isolation.
Even the US closest allies criticized Washington for its action against the JCPOA and described the Iran Deal as a great diplomatic success, Khoshroo noted.
The new US administration's policies which run counter to the international law are not solely limited to endeavors to damage the Iran Deal, but include Washington's exit from Paris Agreement and its effort to move American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Holy Quds, he said.
He went on to say that most of the policies being followed by the US are in line with serving the interests of the Zionist regime of "Israel".
Referring to the letter on the US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA sent by the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to the UN secretary general and the UN Security Council, Khoshroo said the Council's members excluding the United States declared in the Wednesday meeting that Iran has been faithful to its commitments under the 2015 deal and this is what the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] confirmed 11 times.
About the details of the UN meeting, Khoshroo said the members of the Security Council expressed concerns over US exit from the Iran Deal, and most of them described Washington's measure to re-impose anti-Iran sanctions as unconstructive.
As long as Iran is committed to the JCPOA, and other countries stress the importance of keeping the deal alive, the unilateral measure by one country is reproachful, Khoshroo said.
