Sherri: Swap Deal is a New Victory for Lebanon and The Resistance
Source: nowlebanon.com, 01-07-2008
In an interview with Al-Manar TV, Loyalty to the resistance MP Amin Sherri commented on the swap deal saying, "The swap deal is a new victory for the Resistance and for Lebanon, and it is a new defeat for the enemy. All Lebanese should be happy for this victory, and not a single party."
On internal policy he noted that "The black room inside the US Embassy in Lebanon is where roles are being distributed and where they are targeting the Resistance. The Resistance is a force for all of Lebanon and must not be weakened by local forces. If the Lebanese army and the Resistance are the same, I don't have any fears for Lebanon. Let us give the Resistance its privacy [to make its own decisions] without holding the state accountable for them. This has proven to work well in the past."
Sherri added, "Any strife is a service to the ‘Israeli' enemy before anyone else. The Future Movement and other political factions must deal with this strife. We are observing some MPs' campaign to accuse Hizbullah of creating security problems in the North and the Bekaa."
"No problems exist within the opposition. Every parliamentary bloc within the opposition has its characteristics of representation, and no faction is putting pressure on any other one," Sherri said.
He concluded, "General Aoun's statement yesterday was responsible and maintained his policy of holding out an open hand. We advise PM Saniora to maintain his ongoing contacts with General Aoun in order to reach the expected solution."
