Arslan hails Resistance’s role in freeing detainees
Source: nowlebanon.com, 01-07-2008
Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan urged the Lebanese, especially the residents of the Jabal area, not to despair, noting that national and moral unity remain the basis of civil peace. He also called for the speedy formation of a national unity government, which he described as crucial to unity, peace and stability.
Arslan, also a former minister, called on all Lebanese to overcome their "sectarian and confessional detention," and demanded the end of all sectarian incitement, denouncing the recent clashes in northern Lebanon.
He thanked the Lebanese for their cooperation in recent times, and asked his party members alongside the population at large to stand by the Lebanese army and protect the Resistance. He also congratulated the Lebanese on the imminent release of detainees from Israeli prisons, emphasizing the central role the Resistance has played in achieving the historic event.
"The Jabal will be a protector of the Resistance, for the Resistance has been and remains a normal, crucial choice and cannot be dismantled under any pretense," he stated.
