Families of missing Iranian diplomats say they are still alive in "Israeli" prisons
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 3-7-2008
According to the testimonies of other detainees who were since released, the four Iranian diplomats who were kidnapped in Beirut in 1982 are alive in "Israeli" prisons, Raed Moussawi, son of one of the diplomats, said in a speech delivered on behalf of the men's families on the 26th anniversary of their disappearance.
Moussawi noted that so far, no information over their deaths has been issued. "No matter what, we will carry on our efforts toward their release," he said.
The press conference that was held to commemorate the occasion was attended by Iranian Charge d'Affairs in Lebanon Mojtaba Ferdosipour, and a giant portrait of the diplomats and Iranian Supreme leader Ali Khamenei was hoisted.
Moussawi said that the Lebanese government has the duty to uncover the fate of the diplomats, as they were kidnapped on Lebanese soil in front of a member of the Embassies Protection Unit.
