"Israel" Closes Gaza Crossings Again
Source: Alalam.ir, 4-7-2008
GAZA CITY--The occupying "Israeli" regime has sealed off the Gaza Strip's gateways to the outside world after a retaliatory rocket attack on an "Israeli" target.
War minister Ehud Barack ordered all crossing points along the Palestinian territory to remain closed on Friday.
A home-made Qassem rocket fired by Palestinian fighters landed in an "Israeli" occupied field on Thursday afternoon, but did not cause any injuries.
The border crossings were closed on Monday evening but reopened again on Wednesday since an Egyptian-brokered truce between the occupied regime and Hamas leaders in the strip went into effect.
The Islamic movement has thrown full backing to the truce and has vowed to arrest anyone who violates it.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority's envoy in Cairo Nabil Amr said that Egypt will "soon" host inter-Palestinian talks between rival Fatah and Hamas as well as other factions.
The talks are aimed at bringing together, under a Yemeni plan, the factions, which have been divided since Hamas violently removed Fatah forces loyal to Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmud Abbas from the Gaza Strip a year ago.
The official MENA news agency quoted Amr as saying: "Egypt will shortly invite around 14 Palestinian factions for dialogue to draw up mechanisms to apply Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh's initiative on a Palestinian national reconciliation."
"Egypt is holding consultations with the Palestinian Authority and all Palestinian factions and parties to outline both the timetable and agenda of this dialogue," Amr said.
