TEHRAN--The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched the third phase of its missile and navy military maneuvers dubbed 'the Great Prophet 3' at the Persian Gulf.

The military exercises, which began a few hours ago, are being conducted by missile units of IRGC's naval and air forces and are aimed at improving combat readiness and capability, officials said.

IRGC military maneuvers have happened to be simultaneous with a US Navy war game
The US Navy said on Monday that two US vessels were taking part in its war game alongside a British warship and one from Bahrain, a Persian Gulf Arab ally which hosts the Fifth Fleet.

"The aim of Exercise Stake Net is to practice the tactics and procedures of protecting maritime infrastructure such as gas and oil installations," Commodore Peter Hudson claimed in a US Fifth Fleet statement.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps have in the past held two days of military exercises in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman in February 2007.
