TEHRAN--Iran said on Friday that its top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and EU foreign policy chief Javier Salona would hold talks on the country's nuclear issue on July 19 in Geneva.

Ahmad Khadem, spokesman for the secretariat of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said that Jalili and Solana will continue negotiations on Iran's nuclear issue, IRNA news agency reported.

Khadem also said the package of incentives the West presented to the country last month would be discussed during the talks.

World powers last month presented Iran with a package aimed at ending the nuclear issue, notably offering Tehran technological incentives in exchange for suspending uranium enrichment.

"Dr Jalili's trip to Geneva is taking place after world powers welcomed continuation of talks on common grounds in the two packages that have been proposed," the spokesman added.

Iran has proposed its own package -- a more all embracing attempt to solve the problems of the world including the nuclear issue -- and has made much of the common ground between the two proposals.

Tehran has already responded to the offer from world powers -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US--and diplomats are analyzing the answer.

Iran stresses its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes, including generating power. It has turned down Western pleas to abandon uranium enrichment activities.

Solana, who presented the package in Tehran on behalf of the six world powers last month, has described the Iranian response as a "complicated and difficult letter that must be thoroughly analyzed."
