MP Ammar: All US ambassadors to Beirut are "Israeli" puppets
Source: Daily Star, 29-7-2008
BEIRUT: Hizbullah lashed out at United States Ambassador to Lebanon Michele Sison on Monday, dubbing the US envoy ""Israel's" ambassador."
"All ambassadors assigned by the US administration to Beirut are "Israeli" puppets," Hizbullah MP Ali Ammar said.
Ammar said the United States has "failed in stirring factional unrest" in Lebanon and urged all factions to "rally around the resistance."
The Hizbullah MP's comments came in response to remarks made by Sison in front of the US Congress Foreign Affairs Committee, which last week ratified the appointment of Michele Sison as US ambassador to Lebanon.
Sison said then that Lebanon was an important part of US efforts to encourage democracy, human rights and freedom in the Middle East.
"The Lebanese people have benefited from the Doha Agreement," she added.
Sison said Hizbullah has only one minister in the Lebanese Cabinet but added that the party and its allies secured a blocking a minority inside the next government "which is not a good thing," as "the government usually works on the basis of consensus."
She said it was hard for her on the personal level to watch [the freed longest serving Arab detainee in "Israeli" prisons] Samir Kintar being released from "Israeli" prison this month and to receive the jubilant welcome from the Lebanese masses, because "he is not a hero."
Also on Monday, the head of Hizbullah's political council Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed said Sison had "insulted" all Lebanese leaders who took part in welcoming Lebanese prisoners released by "Israel" in line with a swap deal with Hizbullah.
