Iran Says Defense Industry Indigenous

TEHRAN--Iran's Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps for Ground Forces said that 99 percent of the technologies used in Iran's defense industries are made by national experts.
Brigadier General Nouralai Shoushtari told reporters on Tuesday that Iran's armed forces enjoy state-of-the-art technologies as well as modern tactics and are fully prepared to defend the country against any possible aggression.
He said that the Western media wage psychological showdown in order to underestimate achievements of young Iranian experts, however, the propaganda have been failed by Iran's day-to-day advancement in defense industry.
Iran on Monday successfully tested a naval weapon in the Persian Gulf waters that could destroy any vessel in a range of 300 kilometers (190 miles), as commander-in-chief Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Jafari said.
Shoushtari said that the newly tested weapon has been manufactured by Iranian experts, and has no foreign sample.
Around 40 percent of globally traded oil leaves the region through the Strait of Hormuz, a choke point at the southern end of the Persian Gulf, controlled by Iran.
