MP Hajj Hassan shrugs off criticism of Hizbullah-Salafist MOU
Source: nowlebanon.com, 22-08-2008
Hizbullah held a political gathering with Amal and the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) in the southern village of Kfarhatta.
Hizbullah MP Hussein al-Hajj Hassan emphasized the importance of the national unity cabinet and questioned the motives of those criticizing Hizbullah memorandums of understanding with the FPM and, recently with certain Salafist groups. He said such MOUs would not cease and would extend "to reach everyone."
Amal Movement MP Ali Bazzi said his party would resist "calls for conflict... we will only extend our hands toward unity."
MP Nabil Nicolas representing FPM said that while his movement was non-sectarian, it was also "non-atheist." He said that the FPM was honored to offer sacrifices along with Hizbullah and Amal. "Our agreement with Amal and Hizbullah aims to reach true citizenship," Nicolas said.
