The commander of the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guards in Iran Mohammad Ali Jaafari warned that his country could hit back with missiles if "Israel" attacked the country.
"Our strategic assessment shows that if the Zionist regime took action, whether alone or with the United States, in minimal time all of its territory would be vulnerable because this country lacks strategic depth and lies within the range of Iranian missiles," the Mehr news agency quoted Jaafari as saying.
"Iran's ballistic capabilities are such that the Zionist regime with all the means at its disposal has no way of countering them," the general added.
Jaafari also threatened that U.S. troops were vulnerable because of their presence in the region.
"The presence of these forces enables Iran to harm the United States interests in different ways... our riposte will be swift, tough and unimaginable," he clarified.
